May 2023 - Take time for Mental health
MAY MENTAL HEALTH WEEK
Hello parents and students I hope this next month is warm, sunny and just wonderful.
I hope you all enjoyed the picture commentary on the April 2023 BLOG. Humor can go a long way and pictures can be better than too many words.
Please feel free to contact us at any time and if you have anything we can add to our BLOG it would be welcome. Ideas- pictures, quotes, stories and more. We love hearing about the things you do at home to support your child.
This month is Mental Health Month and we are focusing on the importance of mental health.
At OUTREACH, we approach each day with our students being first and foremost. This covers from the time they enter the school met with smiles and a welcome comment. Support at the desk for academics and sometimes just to check in. We as counsellors enjoy interacting with our students in casual settings or a quiet place if needed. Laughter is key when we can laugh together. Being a safe place for students, staff and family, OUTREACH is open to question feedback and suggestions on what will best be offered to our students. Our full fridges with snacks and juice allow student to feed there snack attack while feeding their minds with school work. At the end of the day positive conversations with the good byes and see you next class day is given. Each day is a new day for all.

YES WE ALL HAVE GREAT IDEAS SOMETIMES
Remember our staff always have great ideas that students add there ideas to make MAY a great month.
Taking time for yourself is important.
It is ok to ask for help.
It is ok to tell someone you need help.
If you think someone needs help, do a wellness check in and ask if you can help. For many it is hard to ask for help but wouldn't it be wonderful if you can ask someone if they need help.
Reminder that we can all be a helping hand to others. Then when we may need a helping hand we will be more open to accepting the help. Help others and help yourself when others want to help you. IT IS OK to ask for and accept help.
We the counselors in your child's school are here to provide a listening ear, support, information, referrals and some time to be the helping hand and safe place to share. Not only for our students but to the family as well.
WE ARE AND CAN BE THE HELPING HANDS FOR OTHERS.
